Releasing a stuck car door latch requires using a screwdriver to release the clasp. Once the latch is open the door will be able to catch the locking mechanism and close.
Follow these steps to properly insert the screwdriver into the clasp and release its position.
- Prepare the vehicle to be serviced
- Open the door
- Slide a screwdriver into the clasp
- Check the door
First make sure the vehicle is on a level ground with the e-brake on.
Inspect the latch, and see how far in the clasp is stuck.
Use a screwdriver and slide it into the clasp. Slowly pull up to release it.
Check the lock on the door by opening and closing it.
