Both the mid-sized Toyota Tacoma and full-sized Toyota Tundra pickup trucks require oil and oil filter changes every 5,000 miles for traditional oil, or every 10,000 miles if using synthetic oil. Toyota recommends 0W-20 viscosity oil for the four-cylinder Tacoma, and 5W-30 viscosity for the six-cylinder.
The Toyota Tundra comes with only an eight-cylinder engine, and Toyota recommends drivers use 0W-20 viscosity oil. Customers can use 5W-30 viscosity oil if necessary but should change it to 0W-20 at the next oil change.
While traditional oil is created from petroleum, synthetic oil is man-made in a lab. Synthetic oil lasts longer and functions better in extreme temperatures, but is more expensive than traditional oil.
