Some of the best selling cars are the Ford F-Series, the Camry and Corolla from Toyota, Ram pickup truck, Chevrolet Silverado, Honda Accord, Honda Civic and Nissan Altima. The best-selling cars in the world are generally those that sell internationally and have few design and engineering changes among the different models, according to Forbes.
In the United States, consumer car sale trends vary; sometimes shoppers search for sedans and crossovers, and other times for SUVs or trucks. Early in 2015, notes Cars.com, Americans purchased large numbers of the Ford Escape and Chevrolet Equinox, but sales of those cars slowed. In May 2015, Americans purchased over 61,000 Ford F-Series cars, followed by 51,000 purchases of the Chevrolet Silverado, which is a two-door pickup truck.
Although large cars dominate the top of the car sales list in 2015, several sedans rank high on the list of top 10 cars compiled by researchers at Cars.com. Over 178,000 models of the Toyota Camry and nearly 160,000 models of Toyota Corolla sold in the United States by mid-year 2015, which makes them the third and fifth best-selling vehicles.
Sales nationwide of the Honda Civic, Nissan Altima and Honda Accord were also high; over 140,000 Nissan Altimas sold in the United States as of May 2015, along with nearly 130,000 Honda Civic and Honda Accord sedans.
