IAA conducts auctions in many locations in a single day. For example, on August 31, 2015, IAA was scheduled to hold auctions in eastern U.S. cities, including Macon, Georgia; Charlotte, North Carolina; Fredericksburg, Virginia; and Chattanooga, Tennessee. IAA auctions were also scheduled for that day in western U.S. cities such as San Antonio, Texas; Seattle, Washington; and Anaheim, California.

Copart also schedules salvage car auctions in several cities on the same day. For example, on August 31, 2015, Copart was scheduled to hold auctions in eastern U.S. cities such as Jacksonville, Florida; Atlanta, Georgia; Baltimore, Maryland and Albany, New York. Copart auctions were also scheduled to occur on the same date in western U.S. cities such as Wichita, Kansas; Billings, Montana; Phoenix, Arizona and Los Angeles, California.

Both companies hold auctions in Alaska and Hawaii. Copart also holds auctions in Canadian cities such as Calgary, Alberta; Toronto, Ontario; and Montreal, Quebec. Both companies have been holding auctions at salvage yards for more than 25 years.
