The five safest airlines in the world are Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, Finnair, British Airways and Cathay Pacific, according to the 2015 ratings released by AirlineRatings.com after a study of 449 carriers. The remaining airlines in the top 10 are Emirates Airlines, Etihad, EVA Air, Lufthansa and Qantas.
Singapore Airlines, designated by Business Insider as the best airline in the world, has not had an accident since 2000. Finnair, Finland's national air carrier, has not suffered any major accidents since the 1960s. Founded in 1985, Emirates Airlines has not suffered a single fatal accident. The Australian airline Quantas has not had any fatal accidents since 1951.
