"RV" is an acronym for "recreational vehicle," which is a vehicle that combines transportation and living quarters for travel, camping and general recreation. RVs can be towable or motorized.
Towable RVs are designed to be towed by a car, van or pickup truck. They can be detached from the tow vehicle and left at a campsite, allowing travelers to explore an area using the vehicle. Motorized RVs are self-contained, and their living quarters can be accessed directly from the driver's area. They can tow a car for unencumbered exploration, but don't need a separate vehicle to move from place to place.
