In 2014, Daimler sold 92,000 Smart cars worldwide. The company redesigned the Smart ForTwo for the 2016 model year. The redesign includes a large grill, a wider stance and an overall appearance more similar to a traditional hatchback than that of its predecessor's, according to Edmunds. Smart offers four gas-powered models in the United States, all of which come with a three-cylinder, turbocharged 89 horsepower engine. Smart's two electric models are still based on the previous generation of Smart ForTwo. They come as either a hard top or convertible and have an average range of 68 miles while taking about six hours to charge fully.
In addition to its Mercedes-Benz brand of luxury vehicles, Daimler manufactures a wide variety of automobiles. These include Freightliner trucks, Thomas Built school buses, Fuso trucks, Western Star trucks and its own Mercedes-Benz branded trucks, vans and buses.Learn more about Car Makes & Models
