Begin restoring a Shasta travel trailer by examining its exterior for decaying wood or damage to the metal siding. In addition, check the condition of the hitch, wheels and tires. Accordingly, obtain replacement parts from scrap metal facilities, relevant websites or artists who deal with antique restorations. Fix the damaged parts.
To paint the travel trailer, first sand the chipped and rusted spots using 1,000-grit sandpaper. Complete the sanding process with 36-grit sandpaper to make the surface smooth. Place plastic sheets on areas of the trailer that are not to be painted, such as the doors and windows.
Before painting, spray several coats of primer on the trailer's exteriors. Then, apply paint of the desired color to the siding of the trailer. Alternatively, retain the trailer's original hues.
When examining the plumbing and wiring, look for faulty pipes and wires, and replace them with parts obtained from a marketplace that handles Shasta trailers.
To clean the interior of the trailer, apply orange cleaner to the wood to remove grease, and use a steam cleaner to clean the upholstery and carpets. If required, replace the carpet and seat upholstery. Also, place fresh bedding, window treatments and wall decorations as desired.Learn more about Vehicles
