In order to replace a door panel on a Chevy Silverado, remove all the clips and hardware that hold the old unit in place, pry it off and replace the unit. Door panels are relatively simple to access, requiring basic hand tools and can be done in less than an hour, even while working slowly.
A door panel is used to hold all the accessories and switches in place, hide the skeleton of the door and help provide deadening for the cabin. The panel on a Silverado is held in place using special clips and a few screws, all of which are easily removed. Use the following instructions listed below to replace a door panel on a Chevy Silverado.
- Pop off the door handle cover
- Remove the arm rest cover
- Pop off the window switch
- Remove the door lock cover
- Replace the door panel
Use a pry tool or flathead screwdriver to remove the door handle cover, which will reveal two 10 mm bolts holding the panel in place.
Use the same pry tool to remove the plastic covering on the armrest. Then, loosen and remove the two 10 mm bolts.
Gently pry the window switch assembly up and disconnect the wire harness.
Pull off the door lock cover and grab the door panel while pulling it forwards. This will remove the panel from the door.
Install the new door panel. Slide in the window switch, door lock cover and tighten the 10 mm bolts in place. Then, install the previously removed plastic covers on both the armrest and handle.
