To rent storage space for a car, choose between covered or uncovered, find a secured storage facility, and get the car ready. Look at different storage units before choosing one.
Don’t just choose a storage facility that is close by or charges the least amount of money. It is worth it to find out what features they have, the types of storage units available and the type of security on the premises. There are facilities with covered and uncovered storage units. If the units are covered for cars, they are on the bottom floor of the facility. Make sure they have proper climate control to keep the car from being damaged while it is stored. Choose a facility with locked gates that keep people out in the middle of the night. Also, choose the best lock available.
Car storage units also come in different sizes. The smallest is around 10 by 10 feet, which is for compact cars and motorcycles. For a small SUV, coupe or hatchback, choose a unit that is at least 10 by 15. Most cars fit in a 10 by 20 storage unit, including sedans, SUVs, vans and pickup trucks. The 10 by 30 option is usually only needed for large SUVs and oversized trucks or vans. The other benefit of this size is that there is more room to work on the car or store other belongings in the unit.
Before storing the car, get it prepared. Have the fluids changed and be sure the battery is new. Clean the car inside and out so it is in good condition when it is retrieved.
