Jeep voluntarily recalled various model years of its Compass compact sport utility vehicle on several occasions to provide fixes for a variety of issues. More serious issues included in Compass recalls included airbags that may not deploy properly and a binding accelerator pedal.
The most serious potential issue requiring immediate attention affects model-year 2010 through 2012 SUVs, where an electronic control module malfunction may cause the side airbags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy too late or not at all. Model-year 2007 Compasses were recalled for an ABS system malfunction as well as an accelerator pedal that could become stuck.
The 2009 model year saw a recall for a powertrain control module that may short-circuit. Jeep also recalled 2014 models for a potential loss of oil pressure that could cause stalling.
