Chevrolet issued six recalls for the Chevrolet HHR, as of December 2015. Chevrolet issued the earliest recall in January 2008 and the latest in April 2014.
The recall in January 2008 was a response to the insufficient head protection of the vehicle. The company installed energy-absorbing plastic to fix the issue. Issued in December 2008, the next recall required repairs to fix the dash storage bin door, which unexpectedly opened. Chevrolet issued another recall in March 2009 to fix a mismatch between the shifter indicator and the actual shifter position. The recall in February 2014 fixed the airbags that did not deploy properly.
Unexpected loss of power steering assist led to another recall in March 2014. The recall in April 2014 was to fix the ignition lock cylinder to prevent rollaway-type accidents.
