Some bolt-on performance upgrades for the Jaguar X-Type include upgraded wheels and tires, PowerStop slotted and cross-drilled brake rotors, the K&N Apollo Cold Air Induction System, Bilstein B6 Series Heavy Duty Shock Absorbers and Eibach Pro-Kit Lowering Coil Springs. Additional upgrades for power can be made to the engine and exhaust system.
Upgrading the suspension, wheels and tires of a vehicle improves handling and braking distance. Eibach Pro-Kit Lowering Coil Springs lower the Jaguar X-Type's center of gravity 1.3 inches but, when paired with
Bilstein B6 Series Heavy Duty Shock Absorbers, the ride may be less comfortable.
Since the Jaguar X-Type is a luxury sedan, there are not many aftermarket power upgrades available that do not require significant customization. However, the X-Type contains a powerful engine that has the capability to make more horsepower and torque than it does from the factory, though the vehicle is likely to make more noise.
One possibility is an exhaust system consisting of a high-flow muffler, larger exhaust pipes and, optionally, an optimized catalytic converter. Installation of such a system involves welding but can be performed by any muffler shop at low cost. Performance mufflers and exhaust tips also improve a vehicle's appearance. If acceleration and speed are the objective, port and polish the cylinder heads and intake manifold.
Lighting is another inexpensive upgrade that improves appearance, safety and visibility. Xenon Krypton Headlight Bulbs and PIAA fog lamps are popular lighting choices for many vehicles.
