New car smell spray is a type of air freshener formulated to mimic the scent of a new vehicle fresh off the dealer's lot. It quickly gained popularity after being featured in Esquire magazine and is available in a variety of brands.
Typically, new car smell spray is sold in a standard, non-aerosol spray bottle. Real new car smell is the result of a process called off-gassing, in which over 200 chemicals are released into the air of a car's interior. Unlike the scent that inspired it, new car smell spray is not currently known to cause any negative health effects to drivers.
