The horsepower of a Shelby GT 500 depends on the year, model and engine size. For example, a 2014 GT 500 with a standard 5.4-liter supercharged V8 engine has 662 horsepower.
Ford produced Shelby GT 500s from 1965 to 1970 and 2006 to 2014. In the early years, GT 500s ranged from having between 335 horsepower in the GT 500-KR, or King of the Road, to 650 horsepower in the GT 500 Super Snake racing edition.
Horsepower increased in the newer Shelby GT 500s. Beginning in 2007, the standard engine had 500 horsepower, jumping to 540 horsepower in 2011 and 2012 models. Production of the Shelby GT 500 was discontinued in 2014.
