The 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse was available with two engine options: a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine producing 162 horsepower and a 3.8-liter V6 engine that delivered 265 horsepower, according to Edmunds.com. Production of the Eclipse ended in 2011 with the 2012 model.
The original Mitsubishi Eclipse was launched in 1990. The base model was fitted with a 1.8-liter naturally aspirated engine that generated 92 horsepower. Further engine options included a 2.0-liter 16-valve engine producing either 137 or 152 horsepower. Three separate turbocharged versions of this engine were also produced, the most powerful of which generated 198 horsepower. The horsepower of all models in the Eclipse range slowly increased during the course of the vehicle's production run.
