Ford Motor Company states that the 5.0-liter V8 engine in the 2014 Mustang GT produces 420 horsepower with 390 pound-feet of torque. It should be noted that these measurements were achieved with premium fuel.
Production of the Ford Mustang was launched on March 9, 1964, in Dearborn, Mich. The public got its first glimpse of the coupe at the New York World's Fair later that year. The Mustang was the first in a series of pony cars that became popular on American roads. These were defined by their long hoods, short rear decks and sporty styling. The Mustang was a very successful model for Ford and became the first automobile to win the Tiffany Gold Medal for excellence in American design.
