Daytona Beach Bike Week is an annual event that takes place in early March. Sponsored by the Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce, the 10-day event attracts hundreds of thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts from around the world. In 2015, Daytona Bike Week runs from March 6 through March 15.
The first Daytona Beach Bike Week was held in January 1937. A California biker named Ed Kretz won the first beach-and-pavement rally on an American-made Indian motorcycle. In 1958, the beach course was replaced by the Daytona International Speedway.
Official Daytona Bike Week festivities were suspended for six years during World War II and resumed in 1947.
