Mercedes-Benz ranks second when it comes to producing expensive vintage automobiles. The German manufacturer released 10 expensive models in the top 100. The priciest Mercedes-Benz ever sold was a 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540K Spezial Roadster, which reportedly auctioned for roughly $11.7 million.
Other top makers of expensive vintage cars include Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Bugatti and Maserati. Vintage car prices are greatly influenced by vehicle condition. Cars with lower mileage and original, intact equipment typically command high sale prices. Unlike new cars, vintage cars usually appreciate in value. If kept in good condition, vintage cars can experience annual value appreciation of two to five percent.
The most expensive collection of cars sold for $67 million in August 2015. Comprised of 25 cars, vintage and new, the cars were auctioned off for an unnamed vintage car collector in Florida.
