The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class was the flagship full-size sedan of the Mercedes-Benz vehicle lineup. The S-Class was available in the standard S550 model powered by a 4.6-liter turbocharged V8 and the SL63 AMG model that featured a more powerful 5.5-liter engine.
The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S550 model was a five-seat sedan that featured 18-inch wheels, air suspension, dual-zone automatic climate control, 12-way powered adjustable front seats with heaters and leather upholstery throughout the cabin. A 13-speaker sound system and dual 7-inch color infotainment screens presented entertainment and navigation information and were controlled through the Mercedes-Benz COMAND electronics system. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the S550, but four-wheel drive was available as an option. The S63 AMG model added a larger engine along with 20-inch wheels, standard four-wheel drive and AMG-specific exterior cues.
The 4.6-liter engine in the S550 produced 449 horsepower and 516 foot-pounds of torque, sufficient to propel a rear-wheel drive S550 from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. The S550 gets 20 miles per gallon in combined driving. The upgraded 5.5-liter engine in the S63 AMG produces 577 horsepower and 664 foot-pounds of torque, giving the AMG version of this sedan a supercar-like 0 to 60 mph time of only 3.9 seconds.
