A Maybach is a high-end luxury sedan produced by Daimler under its Mercedes-Benz brand. The car is a variant of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, meant to compete with Rolls Royce and other luxury car brands.
The name Maybach comes from Maybach-Manufaktur, a German company that specialized in luxury automobiles. Originally founded in 1909, it was eventually bought by Daimler and rolled into their brands before being shut down in 2012. Daimler resurrected the brand in 2014 to produce ultra-luxury cars for the high-end market.
Maybach cars are known for their luxury features and incredibly high price tags. Before the line's discontinuation in 2012, Maybach prices ranged from $344,000 to over $1,000,000 for specialty models.
