Externally located water pumps in cars are easily visible, but those located internally are positioned within the engine.
In rear-wheel drive vehicles that have engines mounted longitudinally, the alternator, drive belts, pulley of the engine, air shroud, radiator, fan and clutch must be taken out to access the water pump.
