Historically, the way to locate a vehicle in a large parking lot is to remember where it is parked by using a landmark. However, in 2015, GPS systems on mobile devices are useful for finding parked cars.
In times past, drivers took note of something significant to remind them of where they parked, such as a certain sign or their placement in relation to a certain building. Advances in technology have led to the development of several applications that use GPS to pinpoint a parked car and then lead the driver back to its location. Some such applications are MyCar Locator Free, Park Me Right and iReturn.
