Lincoln SYNC utilizes the latest in GPS technology software to provide 3D maps, voice-assisted navigation and smart route planning, all through the center control screen. These features can be operated either via a responsive touch screen or through spoken commands, as SYNC can be programmed to recognize a driver's voice and certain vocabulary prompts.

SYNC also provides hands-free, voice-activated calling by linking a driver's phone to the control panel via Bluetooth technology. This program automatically transfers phone book contacts to the SYNC computer, in addition to photos, documents, videos and other files stored on a smartphone. Likewise, SYNC can access music from a supported smartphone device and instantly play back songs through the car's speakers and music system, all via Bluetooth.

There are a number of other features provided by SYNC, including a program that helps drivers call 911 in the event of an emergency, WiFi hotspot creation capability and voice/touch-responsive climate control.
