Salvage auto parts are the primary product sold by U Pull R Parts. The company has two salvage yard locations in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area where customers pay to look through the inventory of used cars and remove the parts that they want.
The company claims to have over 1000 cars in stock at each location and to bring in 300 to 400 car models from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s each week. It also claims that its parts are 80 percent cheaper the new or remanufactured parts.
The salvage yards are open seven days a week with a general admission charge of $2, as of 2015. Parts hunters must be over 16 years of age and bring their own tools to remove the parts they want. U Pull R Parts has a current inventory listing of all the makes, models and year vehicles it has in stock. But that does not guarantee that the part that is needed is in working condition on that particular vehicle.
The company has strict safety rules for operating in its yard. All vehicles are on wheel stands, which are safer than jacks. No open-toed shoes or sandals are allowed because there is broken glass and shredded metal, so shoes need to be of a substantial nature. Tool boxes are searched and inventoried upon arrival and departure.
