For the 2015 NHRA racing season, John Force plans to drive a Chevrolet Camaro SS funny car. For 18 years prior to this, Force and the rest of Team Force exclusively drove cars made by Ford.
Force made the announcement that his team had entered an ongoing sponsorship agreement with General Motors and planned to drive Chevrolet cars for the 2015 racing season and in future seasons. Force began his career driving a Chevrolet Corvette. He has also driven a Monza, Oldsmobile and Pontiac. In 1997, Force and his team began driving Ford cars as part of an exclusive partnership with the Ford Motor Company. Ford ended the relationship in 2013.
2015 Team Force drivers are John Force, daughters Brittany Force and Courtney Force, and son-in-law Robert Hight. John, Courtney and Robert drive funny cars for the team. Brittany drives a top fuel dragster. Top fuel drag cars accelerate faster than any other vehicle in the world. They run supercharged nitromethane engines that can produce up to 7,000 horsepower. Funny cars use a modified version of a stock gasoline-powered V8 motor and accelerate almost as quickly as a top fuel dragster. Funny cars have horsepower capabilities similar to those of top fuel cars. John Force has won more funny car championships than any other racer in the sport.
