J.D. Power car reviews are comprehensive consumer and expert reviews of vehicles in different classes, such as SUVs, sedans, trucks, convertibles, coupes and wagons. J.D. Power is a branch of the McGraw Hill Financial division. Its ratings combine direct consumer feedback, through a system called PowerCircle Ratings, with industry research and performance reports.
Consumers can search through the J.D. Power listings by make or model. They can see how certain vehicles fair in various tests, such as the Quality Study, APEAL Study and Vehicle Dependability Study. The Dependability Study combines data for cars of an identical make and model to determine whether those cars have common problems, which fall into one of eight distinct categories.
