The SVT Mustang Cobra was produced as a two-door coupe or two-door convertible. In its body styling, the 1993 SVT Mustang Cobra was similar to that year's Ford Mustang GT. Reflecting SVT's high-performance orientation, the first SVT Mustang Cobra could accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in 5.9 seconds.
In 1994, Ford introduced new styling while boosting the vehicle's horsepower rating to 240. Almost every year for the next 10 years, Ford released a new Mustang Cobra. Each new model featured new styling options and incremental mechanical improvements. Only in 2000 did Ford fail to release a new model, as the company was busy recalling and correcting more than 8,000 1999 Cobras. The 2002 Mustang Cobra is obscure to many since it was an Australia-only vehicle. The 2004 model was Ford's last Mustang Cobra.
As it bears a cobra insignia and is partly built by SVT, the Shelby Mustang GT500 is often informally referred to as a Mustang Cobra. As of 2015, however, Ford no longer officially produces a Mustang Cobra.Learn more about Car Makes & Models
