As of 2015, Parents.com's top-rated budget, high-mileage and crossovers vehicles for families are the Honda Fit, the Mazda 3, the Volkswagen Golf TDI, the Honda CR-V and the Nissan Murano. The criteria for these selections was comfort, safety and ability to meet the needs of a family.
Parents.com praised several other cars in various categories. The site named the Subaru Outback the best wagon, while naming the Hyundai Sonata and Honda Accord the best sedans. The Toyota Sienna took honors as the best minivan and the Chevrolet Traverse took honors as the best SUV. The site gave honorable mentions to the Kia Sedona, the Toyota Prius, the Ford Fusion, the Jeep Cherokee and the Honda Odyssey.
Parenting magazine compiled a similar list, naming the Chevy Suburban the "Roomiest Ride," the Honda Odyssey as having the "Coolest New Family Features," the Honda CR-V as having the "Best Fuel Efficiency," the Acura MDX as the "Hippest Mom Ride" and the Subaru Outback the "Best for Weekend Road Warriors."
The magazine also named the Buick Encore the "Best Ride for City Dwellers," the Honda Accord the "Best Value," the Toyota Sienna the "Best Redesign," the Honda HR-V the "Best New Design" and the Chevy Tahoe the "Safest Ride."
