Goodyear tires are manufactured in the United States. Goodyear is a major American-owned tire company. Although they are now an international company, their headquarters continue to be located in Akron, Ohio.
Tire codes are required to prove they were sold in the United States. The U.S. Department of Transportation requires a code using this format: DOT XX XX XXX XXX. The code contains letters that indicate what company and plant manufactured the tire. There is a searchable database with The National Highway and Transportation Safety Administration as well as with the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers. The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers database is for unionized tire manufacturers only.
