Popular sites other than Craigslist for finding local used cars include Autotrader, CarMax, eBay and Oodle, as of April 2015. Autotrader and CarMax both allow users to find cars sold by dealers, while eBay and Oodle commonly feature listings from private sellers.
Autotrader lets users find local used car dealers either by searching for a specific make and model of car or by using the site's dealer locator tool. The dealer locator tool requires users enter in a ZIP code to see all dealers within that area that also have active listings on the site. Users are able to view pictures of the car, read information about its condition and contact the dealer to make viewing and test driving arrangements. CarMax is a nation-wide used car dealer that operates numerous locations throughout the country. Users can search for either a nearby location or a specific car through the site.
Oodle is a classifieds site like Craigslist, and as such features listings from private sellers. Users are able to choose a specific city and view active ads for cars sold in that location. Auction site eBay contains a ZIP code filtering option that allows users to view listings sold within a given location.
