Metal deactivators and antioxidants are some of the good examples of gasoline stabilizers. Antioxidants include products such as phenylenediamines and a majority of amines. Metal deactivators deactivate metal salts that speed up the gummy residues formation.
Gasoline of high quality should be stable and should not come into contact with air to prevent its oxidation. Lack of gasoline treatment leads to an accumulation of solids and gums, making it stale. It also may lead to unwanted activities in the engine. Also, it results in degradation of products in the fuel lines, carburetor and fuel tank which reduces the engine performance.
