The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon gets 21 miles per gallon when exposed to highway driving and 17 miles per gallon in the city, as of 2015. It can travel up to 472 highway miles on one tank of gas. In 2015, the U.S. government changed the way fuel consumption is calculated.
The two-cycle test method was replaced by a five-cycle method, which takes air conditioning use, colder temperature operating and driving at higher speeds with rapid braking into consideration.
The Rubicon has a V6 285-horsepower engine with an acoustic cover that reduces noise. It comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission but is also available in a five-speed automatic.
