Ford Mustang convertibles modified by Steve Saleen's tuning company feature a variety of performance improvements, including improvements that increase the power of the vehicle's engine and the car's handling and braking performance. Saleen offers multiple levels of tuning for a given model of Mustang, so the exact modifications vary between model years and tuning levels for a given vehicle.
An example of the typical modifications performed by Saleen when customizing a Mustang convertible is the 2015 Saleen 302, available as either a convertible or a coupe in White Label, Yellow Label or Black Label trims. The White Label 302 retains the standard 450-horsepower V-8 of the stock Mustang GT convertible, but adds custom suspension components, 20-inch wheels and a Saleen 302-specific styling package that improves aerodynamics.
The Yellow Label 302 has the same custom styling package and suspension upgrades as the White Label model, but also features Saleen's eighth-generation supercharger and customized exhaust that boost the output of the Mustang's V-8 engine to 715 horsepower. Finally, the Black Label 302 comes with an exclusive Signature Series styling package with improved aerodynamics over the standard 302 package and the option of either the stock V-8 or a 730-horsepower supercharged upgrade as part of the SSC upgrade option.
