The Mazda 3 is a compact four-door sedan with high fuel efficiency. Mazda offers the car in five variations as of 2015; I Sport is the entry-level version and S Grand Touring is the most advanced option.
All five configurations come with the four-cylinder 2.0-liter Skyactiv VVT engine. The engine can produce up to 155 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 150 pounds-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm with the revolution redline at 6,800. With each cylinder 83.5 millimeters in bore and 91.2 millimeters in stroke, the engine displaces 1,998 cubic inches of air at a compression ratio of 13.0 to 1. The engine also has direct coil-in-plug electronic ignition with platinum-tipped spark plugs.
The five variations are available with two gearbox options: one manual and one automatic. The manual gearbox gets 29 miles per gallon city conditions, while the automatic gets 30 mpg in cities. Both transmission options offer 41 mpg in highway conditions.
Advanced safety features such as dual front airbags, passenger weight sensors, whiplash-reducing front seat headrests, anti-lock brake systems and side-impact door beams come as standard. The car also offers an engine-immobilizer anti-theft system, tire-pressure monitors and a keyless remote panic button on the key fob.
Mazda offers the Mazda Connect infotainment system with all five vehicles. The system features a 7-inch full color touch screen, voice commands, HD radio and Internet radio integration with Aha, Pandora and Stitcher. The Mazda 3 can carry 12.4 cubic feet of cargo.
