The Hummer H2 SUT is a large four-wheel drive sport utility truck powered by a 6.2-liter V-8 engine producing 393 peak horsepower and 415 foot-pounds of torque. The H2 is designed especially for off-road use and includes a driver-selectable locking rear differential and dual transfer case to optimize traction in rough terrain. A six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift option is standard equipment.
The Hummer H2 SUT was last produced for the 2009 model year, during which it was available in a single trim level that included 17-inch wheels, dual climate control, front power seating and 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with all-terrain tires. Leather upholstery was available as an option. The H2 Adventure option package added several off-road oriented upgrades to the basic H2, including a self-leveling rear suspension and a front brush guard, while the Luxury package added an MP3 audio system, polished alloy wheels, additional exterior chrome and a sunroof. The H2 Special Edition option required the Luxury package and further upgraded that option set with 20-inch chrome wheels and color-keyed exterior accents.
The H2 SUT's off-road performance is impressive, as is its maximum towing capacity of 8,000 pounds when properly equipped. However, its large size and powerful engine means that the H2's fuel efficiency is as low as 10 miles per gallon in normal use. In addition, the H2's design only allows it to seat five people despite its size, while many other SUVs in its class can seat up to seven.
