Some features of good all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and utility vehicles are handling and steering mechanisms that minimize the likelihood of rollovers, padded roll cages and restraint systems that keep occupants in place. Other features are safety netting and partial doors.
Good ATVs and utility vehicles feature roll cages with minimal crush points and cushions around hard surfaces to prevent head injuries and protect body parts during rollovers. These vehicles must also feature supplemental restraint systems that prevent occupants from being ejected and keep body parts inside the vehicle at all times. Good ATVs and utility vehicles also need to have seat-belt reminders when started and seat belt systems that secure the occupants in place when the vehicle is in use.
