The 2016 Mercedes-Benz SL has many luxury features, including hands-free entry; a rear-view camera; massaging, heated driver and passenger seats; memorized settings for three drivers; and an 11-speaker, 600-watt sound system with speed-sensitive volume control. The two-seater's 5.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8 engine produces 577 horsepower at 5,500 revolutions per minute. The convertible features rear-wheel drive and a seven-speed shiftable automatic transmission.
The seats are adjustable with 12-way power, are height-adjustable and have lumbar support. The car comes with cruise control, and transmission and audio controls on the leather steering wheel. Instrumentation includes a compass, clock, trip computer, tachometer and external temperature display. Other features include interior air filtration, climate controls for the driver and passenger, turn signals on the mirrors and a sun sensor.
On the exterior, the roof is a retractable hard top, and it has a fixed glass sunroof, 19-inch alloy wheels and performance tires. Safety features include anti-lock brakes, a remote anti-theft alarm system, an engine immobilizer, traction control and stability control. The car has tire-pressure monitoring, cornering lights, daytime running lights and adaptive, dusk-sensing headlights.
Telematics include a voice-activated navigation system and a Bluetooth connection that allows hands-free use of the phone. Roadside assistance and concierge service are available as an option.
