Audi A3 sedans are smaller than many luxury models but are still premium-class and have the added benefit of being fuel-efficient. The four-door vehicle comes with three engine types, including a diesel and two sizes of turbo, and all models have a six-speed automated manual transmission.
The driver's seat, which Edmunds says has some issues with comfort, is an eight-way power seat with adjustable lumbar support. The leather, bucket driver and passenger seats are also adjustable by height. The car's power features include remote keyless door locks and power windows. Instruments include a clock, tachometer, trip computer, external temperature display and low-fuel level warning. The car has cruise control, electric power steering, an interior charcoal air filter and dual-zone climate controls.
The stereo has 10 speakers, including a subwoofer, and 180 watts of output. The sound system has an auxiliary audio input and a memory-card slot.
One of the gasoline engines produces 170 horsepower and gets an estimated 23 miles per gallon in the city and 33 on the highway. The other gas engine delivers 220 horsepower and gets about the same fuel economy. The diesel engine delivers 150 horsepower and 236 foot-pounds of torque, and it gets about 31 mpg in the city and 43 on the highway.
