The Mazda CX-5 diesel SUV is a crossover-style SUV powered by a 2.2-liter twin-turbocharged diesel engine that produces 148 or 173 horsepower depending on trim level. Diesel-powered versions of the CX-5 are not available in the United States as of August 2015.
The Mazda CX-5 diesel is a small crossover SUV that seats five and features a cargo area behind the rear seats with 17.7 cubic feet of space. The rear seats fold down to increase total cargo space to 57.2 cubic feet. Standard interior features on all trims include an infotainment system with touch-screen and joystick navigation, dual climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, and USB ports. The SE-L trim adds leather upholstery and a sunroof, while the Sport trim adds a backup camera, xenon lights and a nine-speaker Bose audio system.
The 148-horsepower version of Mazda's 2.2-liter SkyActiv-D diesel engine is standard on all CX-5 diesel vehicles except the Sport version. It is capable of accelerating the CX-5 to 62 mph in 9.2 seconds in the case of two-wheel drive vehicles or 10 seconds for all-wheel drive versions. The more powerful 173-horsepower engine is only available in two-wheel drive Sport trim CX-5 models, and it powers those vehicles from 0 to 62 mph in 8.8 seconds.
