The Dodge Charger SRT8 comes in 392 and Hellcat trim levels for 2015, each corresponding to a powerful HEMI V-8 engine bringing a level of acceleration not often seen in four-door, five-passenger sedans. The supercharged Charger SRT8 Hellcat is a new addition for 2015.
The Dodge Charger received a significant redesign for the 2015 model year, and Dodge has shuffled up the SRT8 high-performance lineup, dropping the base SRT8 model and adding a new top-of-the-line SRT8 Hellcat.
The SRT8 392 comes with a 6.4-liter hemispherical "HEMI" V-8 engine with 485 horsepower and 475 foot-pounds of torque. An eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels, with all four lightweight forged aluminum wheels sized 20-by-9.5 inches with a "Hyper Black" finish. A high-performance braking package from Brembo brings vented and slotted brake rotors and six-piston calipers, a significant upgrade in stopping power from the standard V-8 Charger sedan.
The SRT Hellcat offers the same basic upgrades as the SRT8 392, but with a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V-8 engine outputting 707 horsepower and 650 foot-pounds of torque. Dodge says the rear-wheel-drive Hellcat can complete a standing quarter-mile in 11.0 seconds and has a 204-mph top speed. The transmission also has eight gears, but Dodge strengthened its internals to handle the extra load and programmed the shift times to be even quicker. The Hellcat's hood, front aerodynamic splitter, wheels and interior treatments are also unique.
