The Zenvo ST1 is produced in Denmark and was introduced in 2009. Its 7-liter, V-8 engine pushes 1,250 horsepower, allowing the car to reach 233 mph. The McLaren F1 is known not only for its speed but for its unique cockpit layout. Powered by a BMW-sourced 6.1 liter, V-12 engine, it can reach speeds of up to 240 mph.
With a top speed of 248 mph, the Saleen F7 Twin-Turbo is one of the fastest American cars in the world. It pushes 750 horsepower and sports a pair of Garrett turbo engines. Also from North America, the SSC Ultimate Aero tops out at 257 mph. The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, the number two fastest car in the world according to HowStuffWorks, can reach 268 mph. Lastly, the Hennessey Venom GT, which had to use NASA's space shuttle landing strip in order to reach and record its top speed, is capable of reaching 270 mph.
