Harley-Davidson's offers an extended service plan for purchase through its dealerships and instructs motorcycle owners to contact their local dealerships for more information. A motorcyclist must purchase an extended service plan before his factory warranty expires. New Harley-Davidson's motorcycles have a two-year factory warranty.
An extended service plan offers up to five extra years of coverage. Coverage includes reimbursement for food and lodging expenses and towing if the motorcycle breaks down, as well as $50 deductible for covered repairs. Coverage for tires and wheels is available for an additional fee. An owner can also transfer the warranty if he decides to sell the motorcycle within the seven-year period.
