It delivers an output of 149 kilowatts at 7,500 rotations per minutes and powers the Mitsubishi FTO series of vehicles. A less powerful version of this engine that delivers a total output of 127 kilowatts is also available.
The Mitsubishi 8A80 engine has eight cylinders and a displacement of 4.5 liters. It features the gasoline direct injection technology. Vehicles of Mitsubishi's Proudia and Dignity series were the only Mitsubishi vehicles that featured this engine. Until 2008, Hyundai's Equus series vehicles also used the Mitsubishi 8A80 engine.
