Some engines Mitsubishi Motors produces include the 6G72, 6A12, 8A80, 4N1 and 3B2. The 6G72 twin turbo engine powers the company's GTO model muscle car. It has six cylinders, 24 valves and a displacement of 3 liters. It offers an output of 209 kilowatts at 6,000 rotations per minutes and enables the Mitsubishi GTO to go from zero to 100 km/h in five seconds.
With a displacement of 2 liters, the 6A12 six-cylinder engine has a compression ratio of 10.0:1. It delivers an output of 149 kilowatts at 7,500 rotations per minutes and powers the Mitsubishi FTO series of vehicles. A less powerful version of this engine that delivers a total output of 127 kilowatts is also available.
The Mitsubishi 8A80 engine has eight cylinders and a displacement of 4.5 liters. It features the gasoline direct injection technology. Vehicles of Mitsubishi's Proudia and Dignity series were the only Mitsubishi vehicles that featured this engine. Until 2008, Hyundai's Equus series vehicles also used the Mitsubishi 8A80 engine.
Some Mitsubishi small-to-mid-sized passenger cars, such as the 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer and 2015 Mitsubishi Triton, use the Mitsubishi 4N1 family of four-cylinder engines. These engines have double overhead camshaft layouts, a common rail injection system and a variable valve timing system.
