The base model 2015 Jeep Cherokee is equipped with a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder Tigershark engine that provides 184 brake horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. A 3.2-liter, V6 Pentastar version of the engine with 271 brake horsepower and 239 pound-feet of torque is also available on some models.
Both engines are gas powered. According to Jeep, the four-cylinder model gets 31 miles per gallon and 489 miles per tank. The V6 is equipped with stop-start technology to improve fuel consumption and has a towing capacity of 4500 pounds. Cherokees feature nine-speed automatic transmissions that have both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive modes.
