Your driver's license number is available directly on your license. The Department of Motor Vehicles of the state that issued the license can also provide your driver's license number upon confirmation of your identity.
Additionally, check any documents that may have your driver's license number on them, such as a rental car application, a cancelled check or a loan application.
Acceptable documents that prove identity vary by state. Most DMVs require two forms of identification to obtain a replacement driver's license, state identification card or learner permit. For example, the state of Connecticut requires either a passport or birth certificate and a secondary document. Secondary documents can be a military ID, a marriage certificate or an identification card issued by another state.
