The Mopar 426 Hemi, Mopar 505 CID big-block and Mopar Competition V-10 are among the best-rated Dodge crate engines. The 426 Hemi is especially well-suited for street vehicles running on pump gas, while the Competition V-10 is one of the most powerful, if most expensive, factory-built crate motors available.
Both the Mopar 426 Hemi and 505 CID big-block engines are V-8 engines. The smaller 426 Hemi produces 540 horsepower and 530 foot-pounds of torque, while the larger 505 engine is torque-biased at 505 horsepower and 590 foot-pounds of torque. The Competition V-10 is essentially the same engine mounted in the Dodge Viper; it produces 800 horsepower and 695 foot-pounds of torque.
