What Are the Different Types of Motor Oil?

Synthetic, synthetic blend, high-mileage and conventional motor oils are the different types available. Each type has differing properties and benefits.

Synthetic motor oil offers a high level of lubrication as it contains synthetic ingredients created by engineers. It works to protect engines against heat buildup.

Synthetic blend motor oil consists of synthetic and base oils. This type of oil resists corrosion caused by oxidation and it is recommended for vehicles that are used to haul trailers and other equipment.

High-mileage motor oil contains special additives designed to help seal oil leaks. It is recommended for older cars, or those with high miles.

Conventional motor oil is made of base oils and it is most frequently used in older cars, or vehicles used for daily commuting since it has excellent breakdown resistance.
