Some different types of car weights include the gross vehicle weight, the curb weight, the payload and the gross combined weight rating. The gross vehicle weight includes the weight of the car along with all of the car's cargo, including extra equipment or passengers.
The curb weight is the same as the gross vehicle weight minus the weight of passengers or cargo. When measuring the payload, this includes everything in the gross vehicle weight as well as whatever is being towed behind the car. Drivers should never exceed the gross vehicle weight rating, which is the maximum possible weight, including the car and cargo, that the vehicle can withstand before becoming damaged.
