What Is Covered by the Volkswagen Factory Warranty?

The Volkswagen factory warranty covers a standard bumper-to-bumper warranty, a powertrain warranty and an all-weather corrosion warranty. Volkswagen does not offer any type of roadside assistance with the basic factory warranty. The Volkswagen factory warranty only covers repairs to the vehicle that are caused by a manufacturer defect or workmanship error, not any damage done by the owner or another car, which can be covered through additional warranties.

The basic bumper-to-bumper warranty covers the repair and replacement of most parts of the car if damage is the result of a defect or an issue when in production, not an issue outside of the time when the car was purchased. This warranty is offered for three years from the date of purchase or until the car reaches 36,000 miles. The powertrain warranty covers the driving system, such as the engine, axle system and related components. This warranty is offered for five years or until the car reaches 60,000 miles. The corrosion warranty covers the body of the car, and will repair damaged caused by corrosion and natural rusting of the car's body for up to 12 years with no limitations upon the mileage. Some factory warranties may have extensions depending on the model of car purchased.
